The St. Clair Shores Senior Center celebrated International Dance Day on April 29, a day honoring the art form around the world. Jean-Georges Noverre is honored by this worldwide celebration, which is supported by groups like the International Dance Council and the International Theatre Institute.
Noverre is considered the father of modern ballet. What is referred to today as classical or romantic ballet.
To mark the anniversary of Noverre’s birth, the St. Clair Shores Cultural Committee presented the free event for all local residents and non-residents in celebration of the day, featuring performances by the Carpathia Club, Hellenic Society for the Performing Arts, Downtown Farmington Swing, In Movement Ballroom Dance Studio, and Michigan Pualani Polynesian Dancers.
