ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich. — The St. Clair Shores Porch Concert series kicked off on Saturday, May 30, 2026, with performances by Mind Riot and Aqua Monkey.
The porch concert began with a simple idea: play some music for the neighbors while everything else was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, over time, it has grown into something much larger, with more and more musicians participating, making it a true community event.
The concert opened with Mind Riot, a three-piece band known for performing original songs alongside deep cuts spanning classic rock, metal, new wave, glam, and alternative rock from the 1970s through the 1990s.
Aqua Monkey closed the show; a band from St. Clair Shores took the stage and played their own music, which was a mix of grunge and alternative rock, reminding people of the 1990s grunge scene.
People putting the event together said that those coming were supposed to bring some things with them, like coolers to keep drinks cold, lawn chairs to sit on, and friends to hang out with. It was more like a fun gathering to get people excited for the warmer months ahead.
The concerts are held once a month and feature a variety of bands. For more information, visit the Porch Concert forum on Facebook for details.
